Our 2022 Recap! 🤍

We never have a boring year here at blackwheelspacers! We celebrated many highs and this year we celebrated a hard goodbye.

 We launched fresh, new JJ collections, introduced our sister label BY.ZAH and Nightly.co! And said goodbye to our Koroit Street Store after a huge 26 years there and where everything blackwheelspacers all began! All endings lead to new beginnings, that being the opening of a brand-new men's store, located right next to Koko Avenue and the now Women’s blackwheelspacers Store

It wouldn’t be a recap worth reading if we didn't include the music, movies, tv shows, and games that took the world by storm! 

We were lucky enough to get a new album by the absolute babe, Beyonce! Renaissance was released on the 29th of July. The 16 songs from the album are a mix of dance, house, disco, pop, and R&B. We also got new albums from Drake, Taylor Swift, and of course another one of our faves Harry Styles!  

2022 was another big year for some of the best movies to hit the big screen! From Don’t Worry Darling, to Top Gun Maverick, to Netflix favorites Purple Hearts, and the movie that had everyone talking - The Tinder Swindler! If you haven’t seen these yet we can definitely recommend them! Just making it into the 2022 recap and a long 13 years in the making we finally got to see Avatar 2 released on the 15th of December!

While we are happy to leave covid in the past, binging tv shows we become totally obsessed with is here to stay! While we have so many we could add to this list we will keep it short and sweet! Taking out the most TV show watched on Netflix for 2022, and rightly so .. Stranger Things! Also on the list, Inventing Anna, and Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. It wouldn't be right to not mention the Aussie TV Show that was well talked about ‘Heart Break High’. And coming to our screens just in the nick of time ‘Wednesday’ was released to Netflix on the 23rd of November and had everyone obsessed instantly. And Meghan Markle was back on our screens with Prince Harry in their new documentary Harry & Meghan - which became Netflix’s most-watched documentary debut in its first week! 

We are so excited for the new seasons of our faves to drop next year and all the new TV shows that we are yet to know about! However, we had a few to say goodbye to this year!

The Walking Dead is a series that first started back in 2010! After 11 seasons the final episode, ‘Rest In Peace’ premiered on November 20th. As well as Animal Kingdom, which aired its last episode on the 28th of August, finishing with its 6th and final series. 

Whether you participated in the game or not, everyone become well aware of ‘Wordle’ this year. Your attention span for the game came down to how well you found that five-letter word.  

A lot went on this year from engagements, marriages, and babies, to big news, celeb gossip, and just about everything in between! Let us break it down for you!  

To kick start the year Machine Gun Kelly proposed to Megan Fox in a sentimental spot close to their hearts. We then saw Sofia Richie get engaged to her lover Elliot Grainge in April 2022.

 In our 2021 recap it was Taylor Lautner proposing to his longtime girlfriend Tay Dome, this year we watched them get married. However, the most talked about wedding of the year may have been Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barkers, or should we say weddings considering they did have three! 

We are so happy for Jennifer Lawrence and Rhianna who welcomed their first baby this year! Jennifer Lawrence welcomed a baby boy named Cy into the world earlier this year. Rhianna also welcomed a baby boy on the 13th of May whose name we are yet to find out! 

We had big news lines hit our screens, the return of the Kardashians on a whole new tv show ‘The Kardashians’ which we were stoked about! 

 We had the Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard defamation case take over our Tik Tok for while there and we couldn't keep our eyes off it!

 The event at the Oscars that had everyone talking for weeks to follow - Will Smith walking on stage to slap Chris Rock for making a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith. We won't be seeing anything like this from him next year as he was banned from the Oscars for 10 years. 

We had many heartbreaking moments this year with the passing of some truly memorable people! Olivia Newton-John, the star of ‘Grease’ passed away on the 8th of August after her brave journey battling breast cancer. Robbie Coltrane who played the fan-favorite ‘Hagrid’ in Harry Potter, passed away on the 14th of October. 

An event that affected people worldwide and will be marked in history was the passing of our Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away on the 8th of September at the Balmoral Castle in Ballater at age 96, ending her 70-year reign. A state funeral was held at Westminster Abbey on September 19, a national day of mourning.

After all of that, I think we can agree 2022 was a pretty big year filled with some unforgettable moments!! While it's sad to leave another year in the past it makes us so excited to see what is to come! Can you guess what might be on our recap for next year?
